PARENT DUTIES  

2011-2012 SUNDAY PARENT DUTIES SCHEDULE

 

OFFICE DUTY

The desk of Kathy Laws becomes our communications desk on Sunday mornings. While you are welcome to bring a newspaper or book, please do not use the office computers. There is a Sunday Office binder with telephone instructions, class lists, floor plan, directions to the synagogue and cemetery, cemetery key, current flyers, permission slips, and the monthly bulletin to assist you with telephone messages and answering questions

 

Only answer Line 1 (374-8173) and Line 2 (374-8209)

 Do not answer Line 3 – it will go to voice mail at 4 rings.

To answer the phone, just pick up the handset.

 To make a call, press outgoing, then dial the number directly.

 

· Religious School Calls:  Please take a message and deliver to the child’s teacher.  Class lists and room lists are located in the Sunday Office Binder.

 

· Other synagogue business:  Please transfer the caller to the appropriate staff voice mail.  If the caller doesn’t request a specific staff member, please transfer to Sue Litynski, Executive Director  x112. To transfer to Voice Mail: press the Voice Mail button, dial the extension, then hang up the phone. Voice Mail extensions:

TRAFFIC DUTY

You are responsible for the safe drop off and pick up of children on Sunday morning. Please arrive by 9:15 a.m. for the half hour drop-off shift, and by 11:45 a.m. for the pick-up shift. The orange vest, cones, and drop off sign will be in the outer lobby when you arrive.

 

Drop-Off Shift: 9:15 a.m. – 10:15 a.m.

· Set up 2 lanes of traffic, separated by cones, in front of the main doors:

      1) Drop off Lane closest to school, marked off with enough space for 4 cars; 2)Parking lane for drivers to park in the lot and walk child to door. 

· The person posted at the end of the cones, (located just past the main doors), is responsible for moving along the drivers in the drop off line.  Four cars can drop off at one time, move on, then the next four cars drop off, etc.

· Return cones, sign and vest to lobby by 10:15 am.

 

Pick-Up Shift: 11:45 am – 12:00 noon

Same process:  pick-up lane, parking lane, without cones or sign.  Parents in pick up lane must remain in lane to exit and not pull into the parking lane.

 

LOBBY DUTY

Similar to a Neighborhood Watch program, you are here to monitor the cars in the parking lot and the people who come into the building. Please watch for someone keeping to him or herself hanging around the building, carrying a bag, or taking pictures. 

 

If you see a suspicious car or person, please continue to observe them while asking another parent to use the office phone to contact Lee Brice, Educator at 727-6968 or Jan Marcinkowski,  Custodian at 763-2592. The Office Parent can be called at 374-8173x100. The Lee or Jan will offer to assist the person or follow-up immediately with the police. EMERGENCY CONTACTS 911—When using a Regular Phone Or 374-3159Niskayuna Police non-emergency calls or when using a cell phone.  We  periodically receive local sex offender information from the Niskayuna Police Department, which is available at www.criminaljustice.state.ny.us.
