Brotherhood
What is Brotherhood?
Brotherhood has been a Temple service organization since 1924. Our goals are to participate in stimulating Jewish religious activities; foster cultural and educational advancement among our membership and the Jewish community at large; and promote the spirit of brotherhood through programs and social discussion. We hope you will join us.
Brotherhood Tikkun Olam: Each year, Brotherhood of Congregation Gates of Heaven strives to award funds to worthy causes in the Temple community. Awards are recommended by the Brotherhood Board each year and approved by the membership.

A Sample of Brotherhood Programs
Breakfast and/or Speaker Programs: Brotherhood breakfast and/or speaker programs are held on a Sunday at 10:00 am and the program speaker usually begins at 10:30 am. All are invited. Breakfast is free for Temple Brotherhood members, and all others pay $5. There is no charge to hear speakers. Check the Temple calendar and email newsletter for upcoming dates and speakers.
Dinner & A Movie Nights: Looking for an affordable night out? Come to our scheduled Brotherhood-sponsored dinner and a movie held on a Saturday beginning at 6:00 p.m. Enjoy a buffet dinner, typically including salad, eggplant parmesan, veggie lasagna, meatballs, and rolls prepared by a local restaurant. We usually show two movies (one rated for adults and a G/PG rated for the kids). The fee, which also includes drinks and snacks, is currently $12.50 per person and $32 per family maximum. There is no fee for those not eating. All are welcome. Invite your family and friends! For more information, check the Temple calendar and newsletter for dates, movie selections, and the coordinator.
Constructing the Sukkah for Sukkot: Every year, Brotherhood members coordinate the assembly of the Sukkah and its removal after the holiday. Each activity takes only about 1½ hours. This is a great way to socialize with other Brotherhood members for a worthy Temple cause.
For more information on Brotherhood, contact Brotherhood Restart Coordinators Stan Strauss or Jeff Dashew through the Temple Office, (518) 374-8173.
