Ignite: Conversation & Connection
Spark your identity. Shape your future.
A monthly space to explore Jewish values, leadership, and life.
Ever wonder if someone’s really listening to you? What actually makes a best friend? How do you stay chill when everything feels chaotic? And what does being Jewish in America even mean right now?
At Ignite, we talk about real stuff that matters—friendship, identity, stress, belonging—through games, debates, and conversations that aren’t boring. It’s a space to speak your mind, hear new perspectives, and figure things out together.
Come for the fun. Stay for the deep stuff.

B'Mitzvah projects
Maia Ruder's bat mitzvah project: I have chosen to run a food drive for the Schenectady Street Soldiers. Maia & her family have been volunteering for their organization for a few years now. This organization supports those experiencing homelessness or those who are unable to have access to food in the Schenectady area. I will be collecting non-perishable food items like canned goods, pasta, or peanut butter. I will then bring these items to Street Soldiers. There will be a drop off box in the lobby of the temple or bring to the Schenectady JCC. If you’d like to support me in this project, please bring a non-perishable food item to the drop box.
Brooke Lam's bat mitzvah project. Brooke is fundraising for Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in honor of Samantha Goetz. Thank you so much!
There are three ways to contribute:
1. Donate money. You can click on the web link below to donate money on her donation page.

2. Collecting items for Patient Care Packages. We have a box in the CGOH lobby to collect personal hygiene items (toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, soap, etc.) and we will assemble these items in bags to bring to MSK patients.
3. Donate an item for the Sloan Kettering Pediatric Unit. Below is a link for the MSK Kids Amazon wish list, filled with fun toys and other items for the Pediatric Department that have been already pre-approved for the MSK Kids floor.
