Dear Sisterhood Friends,

We are celebrating the 125th year of our existence as a Sisterhood. Started in 1897, as the Ladies Auxiliary of Shaarai Shemayim, Gates of Heaven, we are proud to be a vital arm of our congregation.

Over the years, the women of Congregation Gates of Heaven have formed strong bonds of friendship and made a commitment to making our synagogue a vibrant place, providing service and education to our members and others.

Sisterhood is open to all members of our congregation. We are dedicated to a variety of religious, educational, social, and philanthropic efforts.

We have funded many worthwhile projects. Among them are: Cemetery Beautification Project, Temple Community Service Corps Internships, Schenectady School District Foundation, Salvation Army Soup Kitchen, Jewish Family Services, Schenectady Community Ministries (SICM), Nisky Now, Regional Food Bank, and Schenectady BackPack Programs.

We invite you to become part of this special Sisterhood community by becoming a member for the 2022-2023 year. Your dues and donor contributions have made it possible for us to continue many worthwhile projects and programs.
