Dear Sisterhood Friends,

We are celebrating the 126th year of our existence as a Sisterhood. Started in 1897, as the Ladies Auxiliary of Shaarai Shemayim, Gates of Heaven, we are proud to be a vital arm of our congregation.

Over the years, the women of Congregation Gates of Heaven have formed strong bonds of friendship and made a commitment to making our synagogue a vibrant place, providing service and education to our members and others.

Sisterhood is open to all members of our congregation. We are dedicated to a variety of religious, educational, social, and philanthropic efforts.

Our evening book group continues to attract many of our congregants and we hope to add many more programs as the year progresses.

Thanks to your generous donations, we were able to partially fund the Religious School Field trip to NYC.

This year Sisterhood is joining Women of Reform Judaism. WRJ is a global network which works to empower Jewish women in making a difference and help create a just and compassionate world for everyone of all backgrounds. WRJ will give our members access to programming, a speaker's bureau, and life-long learning opportunities. Each member will be able to go to the URJ website to find out what is happening within the WRJ.
