Regional Food Bank's 40th Annual Yom Kippur Hunger Appeal
Please consider making a donation to the Regional Food Bank's Annual Yom Kippur Hunger Appeal today through Yom Kippur, as we join other congregations in our community to donate the cost of meals for our neighbors in need. Donate here

Rhonda Rosenheck and I invite you to gather to share and listen to original poems pegged to Jewish themes, in the days between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. We crave the company of Jewish poets during this fraught moment, when we feel called to affirm our lives, our Judaism and our Jewish community in the face of unthinkable loss. (You've read the joking summary: They tried to kill us, they lost, we won, let's eat.) Feel free to extend our invitation to others who would enjoy such a gathering.

Let's take October back from hatred with sweet, poetic defiance. Let's celebrate the high holidays and each other with poetry.

We'll bring seasonal snacks and organize the evening as a thematic, (mic-less) open mic, with five minutes per poet, sharing 2-3 short poems that resonate with — and even challenge — the season's texts, emotions, traditions and memories. Please refrain from overt politics and hateful speech.

If you’re an author with books to sell, feel free to bring copies in a bag or box. RSVP is unnecessary but helpful, mostly for deciding how much babka to slice.

When: Sun., October 6th, 6-7:30 pm

Where: Tech Valley Center of Gravity's Community Room, 30 Third Street, Troy, NY

(Ring the bell and we'll let you in.)

RSVP and questions: Susan Comninos, slc36@cornell.edu

and

Rhonda Rosenheck, rrosenheck@gmail.com

We can't wait to see you!

Shanah Tovah,

Susan and Rhonda
